#freemobility concert

To celebrate free public transport, an unusual concert took place on 29/02/2020 in a unique venue that is usually closed to the public, the “Neien Tramsschapp” in Kirchberg.

Best of all? Entrance was free!

A line-up of renowned local artists were perfoming all evening: EDSUN, Michel Reis feat. Studnitzky, Nicool, Serge Tonnar, Stayfou and Tuys. A number of bars and food trucks (LëtzeBurger, BioPan08 and T-Wraps) provided snacks and drinks at the venue.

In addition, the artists performed the whole afternoon at the railway stations Belval-Université, Luxembourg and Pfaffenthal-Kirchberg before making their way by public transport to perform at the meeting point “Neien Tramsschapp”!

This fantastic musical program and the fact that 2020 was a leap year is why we decided to make public transport free as of February 29th, in order to allow everybody to join the public concerts free of charge.
The artists

DJ DEE

MICHEL REIS FEAT. STUDNITZKY

(Tramsschapp stage)
Internationally acclaimed Luxembourgish pianist and composer Michel Reis will be sharing the stage with Berlin based multi-instrumentalist Studnitzky, performing a set of original music and free improvisation, mixing acoustic piano, Fender rhodes, trumpet and electronic effects.

EDSUN

(Tramsschapp stage)
EDSUN creates alternative R&B, smoothly laden with rhythmic beats. His musical style is unique to the Luxembourgish music scene. Incorporating contemporary dance in his performances seems to make EDSUN intriguing and limitless. He also went on his first European tour called The Platonic Touch Tour in Belgium, Germany, Norway and Luxembourg. EDSUN recently won the award for Artist of the Year and Music Video of the Year at the Luxembourg Music Awards 2019.

SERGE TONNAR

(Tramsschapp stage)
Member of the now disbanded legendary band Legotrip, the songwriter will present all his Luxembourgish songs, mainly solo with his guitar, and occasionally he will be accompanied by his
fellow musicians. An acoustic and intimate moment in the magic atmosphere of the mirror tent.

TUYS

(Tramsschapp stage)
TUYS is an indie band from Luxembourg with influences ranging from danceable and catchy indie to more alternative rock with a harder and progressive side. TUYS has already released two EP’s along with some singles. The positive feedback for their music has led to a fourth place in the Luxembourg national charts and they had the chance to do opening acts for The 1975 and The Kooks.

NICOOL

(Tramsschapp stage)
Coming from a family of musicians, Nicool was immersed in music from an early age. After a concert in 2016, she found her connection with Hip Hop and Rap. A few days later, she started writing her own songs. Her album takes us on a musical journey about her love for Hip Hop. Her style is full of humour and honesty.

STAYFOU

(Tramsschapp stage)
Stayfou is a collective of artists that evolves within the Luxembourg Rap scene. Skinny J, Turnup Tun, Tommek, Ragga, Luk, Maddy and the rest of the collective are ready to give you a good time driven by sounds ranging from old school to modern Rap. Get ready for live a show full of energy, switching between seriousness and derision!

FLEX DIAMOND

Will perform between every artist’s performance
Everything started in 2011… 2 guys from Luxembourg decided to create the DJ crew THE DIAMONDS to improve their talents and show the world their skills and style. From the beginning on they created flawless mixtapes which captured attention from local night clubs, radio stations and even sport events. In 2017 they won the award for best general DJ in Luxembourg, voted by the public, so they decided to take a step further and started their own solo project, hence Flex Diamond was born. With his individual style, he can make a whole room fall in love.

Local artists entertained all evening in this location that’s usually closed to the public! There were bars and food trucks, too!
Sustainability
We aimed to keep the environmental impact of the concert to a minimum.
Here’s what we did to achieve that:

We promoted public transport and showed visitors the best way to reach the venue by bus, train, tram, bike or on foot.

We worked with local suppliers and producers.

We provided a free drinking water fountain at the event.

We provided a variety of vegetarian, vegan and local food options at the event.

We limited the use of single-use packaging at the event.

We sorted our waste.

We didn’t use paper tickets or entry wristbands for visitors.

We focused on digital marketing to promote the event and didn’t produce any unnecessary flyers or leaflets.

The #freemobility concert obtained the “Mir engagéieren eis” logo for its environmentally friendly organisation. The logo is awarded as part of the “GreenEvents” project by the Ministry of Environment, Climate and Sustainable Development.
